I guess I will return the dock and live with connecting the charger and HDMI to my monitor for now (the 15.6 size has an HDMI). Unfortunately, no Plugable dock or any other I can find will presently work with my machine.
I know that my 15.6 inch Spectre x360 (2017 Kaby Lake) has a 20% larger battery than the 13.3 and ships with a 90 volt charger so I siuspect the solution is sas simple as finding a dock with similar power. Based on my research, this all stems from the available docks not having enough power to charge and handle the display. The HP USB-C Dock G5 is not supported for HP Spectre X360 15-Df. When I connect both monitors at the same time, only one monitor (the first connected) works.
